2009 Scottsdale Conference

The SCLA Claims Conference & Designation Reception in Scottsdale, November 12-14, 2009, was a big success with more than 100 claims professionals in attendance!

Conference participants had several opportunities to increase their professionalism during the three day Conference. Educational presentations included: Hollywood Helps Adjusters Catch Defrauding Policyholders; Handling Policy Limit Demands to Prevent Excess Exposure; Employment Issues in the Current Economic Environment; Preparing the Claims Professional for a Coverage Deposition; The Hanif and Nishihama Doctrine and the Changing Face of the Collateral Source Rule; and Disarming the Bad Faith Bomb: Best Practices and the Expert in Claim and Fraud Investigations.

More than 90 AEI designees were honored at the designation Conferment Ceremony and later celebrated their achievements at the Designation Reception and Dinner. Rachelle Cohen, SCLA, received a $1,000 cash award for being selected the 2009 SCLA Class Representative. Ms. Cohen’s presentation at the Conferment Ceremony was outstanding; she explained the challenges and benefits of completing the SCLA Designation Program while balancing her responsibilities as a Litigation Specialist for Utica National Insurance Company. Details about the selection of the 2010 SCLA Class Representative will be available on or about March 31, 2010, along with registration information about the 2010 SCLA Claims Conference in San Antonio, TX.
