The Member Services section of the SCLA Website is available only to dues-paid members of the Society and includes: (1) a Membership Directory; (2) a Claims Law Guide; and (3) a Reading Room.
The Membership Directory allows members to network with each other. You can sort the database to obtain the names and contact information of other members in a specified state and line of coverage or simply provide another member’s last name to obtain that member’s contact information.
The Claims Law Guide includes relevant claims law information for each state and the District of Columbia. The guide is revised annually by the professional staff of American Educational Institute, but members are encouraged to notify the Society of any amendments in the law as soon as they become aware of a change. We call this the Law Watch Program that is designed to tap into the knowledge and expertise of individual members and then share that information with the general membership.
The Reading Room provides members with an online library of claims law articles and past conference seminar notes. Articles are indexed according to AEI's six programs: Legal Principles, Liability, Property, Workers' Compensations, Fraud, and Automobile Claims and Coverage. The Society solicits industry professionals and experts to regularly submit relevant claims law articles for publication in the website Reading Room.
Members receive an annual subscription to Claims magazine. Claims is published monthly by The National Underwriter Company. Claims is an industry recognized publication full of claims law articles relevant to claims professionals. An annual subscription to Claims magazine is $72, but you receive twelve issues of Claims plus all of the other member benefits for only $60.
The official publication of the Society–SCLA NEWS is inserted into Claims magazine three times a year. SCLA NEWS keeps members informed on current Society business, new developments with American Educational Institute, and relevant industry information.
The SCLA Annual Claims Conference and Designation Reception offers members a claims relevant education program, networking opportunities, and recognition for having achaeived a professional designation from American Educational Institute.
